UxGE Mobility Brings Winning Ideas to the Heart of the European Union

On 8 July, participants from Spain, Ireland, Cyprus, Lithuania, and Belgium presented their national winning proposals to fellow attendees.

The day continued with an inspiring meeting with representatives from the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC), where they discussed policy priorities and explored how grassroots ideas can influence European strategies.

The following day, 9 July, the group stepped directly into the shoes of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) through an immersive virtual role-play. They followed the entire legislative process — from proposal to adoption — working together to co-create a fictional EU regulation. This exercise offered a vivid and engaging insight into how European laws are shaped.

The experience concluded with a guided tour of the European Parliament’s hemicycle, the symbolic debating chamber where Europe’s most important decisions are made. Standing in the very space where MEPs deliberate and vote, participants gained a new appreciation for the democratic processes that underpin the EU.

Through these activities, the UxGE mobility not only celebrated innovative youth ideas but also built a deeper understanding of how citizens can contribute to Europe’s decision-making.
