Irish Youth Leaders Represent in Brussels for ‘United for a Green Europe
In association with The Rural Hub, the CAMRY (Cavan and Monaghan Rainbow Youth – Youth Support Service) crew travelled to Brussels in July 2025 to represent Ireland at the United for a Green Europe mobility. Hosted by Out of the Box International, the four-day programme brought us together with other young people and youth leaders from across Europe to share ideas, showcase winning proposals, and engage directly with EU decision-makers.
As the Irish team, we presented our sustainability proposal to an international audience and took part in in-depth discussions on environmental priorities. Meetings at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC) provided us with valuable insights into opportunities for young people within the Erasmus+ programme. A visit to the European Parliament offered a unique chance to act as MEPs in a simulated legislative process, giving participants a first-hand understanding of how EU laws are shaped.
Alongside the formal sessions, we as a group explored Brussels on a guided tour, attended lively networking events, and connected with peers from diverse cultural backgrounds. We returned home energised, grateful for the opportunity, and ready to apply our new knowledge and inspiration to future sustainability work within our communities.
