Fostering Green Leadership: Inspiring High School Students in Cyprus

On 17 December 2024, one of the UxGE Youth Leaders from Cyprus, Nefeli Emilianidou, conducted the first Youth Leaders’ workshop in Nicosia, Cyprus, at Latsia High School, representing CARDET and putting into practice the knowledge acquired during the International Youth Leaders’ Meeting in Malaga, Spain, in October 2024. The workshop promoted leadership and green leadership among high school students. More
specifically, the workshop was attended by 16 participants, all high school students, aged 17 years old.

The workshop began with an introduction to leadership, highlighting its significance, as well as various types of leadership and relevant examples. Green leadership was among the types of leadership presented and discussed. Students then participated in practical activities, including ranking leadership styles and analyzing case studies to identify different leadership approaches in various scenarios.

Despite it being her first experience leading such a session, Nefeli excelled in capturing the students’ attention and engaging them to actively participate through reflection, analysis and discussion, fostering a deeper understanding of the importance of leadership.
