Encouraging Sustainable Choices: Youth Workshop on Conscious Consumption in Cyprus

Workshops

On 19 December 2024, the second Youth Leaders’ workshop by one of the UxGE Youth Leaders from Cyprus, Anastasis Constantinou, was implemented in Nicosia, Cyprus, at Latsia High School. Representing CARDET, Anastasis conducted a workshop promoting sustainability and sustainable consumption, putting into practice the knowledge acquired during the International Youth Leaders’ Meeting in Malaga, Spain, in October 2024. The workshop engaged 16 high school students, aged 17 years old, who actively participated in the activities.

The workshop focused on sustainable consumption. Through an interactive game, participants categorized products based on their sustainability. This was followed by a presentation on sustainable shopping practices, which covered criteria for choosing environmentally friendly products and examples of best practices. In the end, the young participants were asked to categorize the products again, this time applying the new information acquired from the workshop presentation and taking into consideration the insights that came out of the discussions.

Even though it was Anastasis first time leading and facilitating such a workshop, he was successful in engaging the participants through his presentations and hands-on activities and he inspired the students to actively participate and foster a better understanding of sustainability.
