Youth in Action. Local Debates in Malaga, Spain

Local Debates

On 24 January, the International Youth Initiative team held an enriching debate with young people in vulnerable situations. The activity began with a presentation of the team, followed by an ice-breaker dynamic that generated a comfortable and close atmosphere. Subsequently, the project and its purpose were presented, highlighting its co-funding by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, whose visibility was ensured through audiovisual materials and social networks.

The debate focused on environmental issues, such as climate change, air and water pollution, and excessive plastic. Using illustrative photographs, participants reflected on the causes of these problems and proposed collective and individual solutions. The diversity of the group, composed of young people on probation, academics from the University of Malaga and professionals from the field of education, significantly enriched the discussions.

The objectives of the debate were fully met, promoting critical thinking, knowledge about environmental challenges and the development of youth leadership. The participants rated the experience as highly satisfactory, highlighting its dynamic and stimulating character. In addition, young people were encouraged to participate in a project competition as an opportunity to enhance their personal and professional growth.
