Local Debate in Ireland
In March 2025, a youth-led debate took place in Cavan Town Hall, bringing together young people to engage in lively, face-to-face exchanges on pressing societal issues. Organised in collaboration with youth workers, local leaders, and participants of the International Youth Leaders Meeting, the event provided a
platform for young voices to be heard and ideas to be challenged.
The debate featured opposing teams presenting well-researched arguments, developed during preparatory sessions, and responding to questions under timed conditions. Guided by The Rural Hub trainers and youth facilitators, participants demonstrated strong communication skills, critical thinking, and teamwork.
The event attracted a diverse group of engaged young people, many showing great potential for future leadership and civic involvement. It not only promoted the project’s priorities of environmental protection, active citizenship, and youth empowerment, but also strengthened local awareness of the value and impact of EU-funded youth initiatives. The atmosphere was charged with confidence, creativity, and collaborative spirit.
