Introducing UxGE: Empowering Future Educators for a Sustainable Europe
On April 11, 2024, Paula Pérez Caballero delivered a presentation at the Faculty of Education of the University of Málaga to 15 university students studying for a degree in pedagogy. The purpose was to introduce the UxGE (United for a Green Europe) project, outlining its core objectives, activities, and expected outcomes. Using a PowerPoint presentation, we began by showcasing the project’s logo and identifying its stakeholders and partner organizations. Subsequently, we delineated its primary objectives, focusing on enhancing youth leaders’ understanding of environmental issues, designing practical educational tools, and more. These objectives were categorized into five themes: Sensitization, Education, Personal Development, Collaboration and Debate, and Solidarity. The keen interest of the participants of the event in gaining further knowledge about fostering European sustainability was evident. Surprisingly, the participants were unaware of the European Green Deal, highlighting the project’s significance in bolstering young people’s understanding of initiatives aimed at enhancing the EU’s environmental sustainability. Through a comprehensive explanation of the project’s objectives and activities, attendees exhibited notable interest and gained awareness of strategies for fostering sustainability within Europe.
